The Mahler Players open our 2026/27 season with music by Mendelssohn and Brahms. Mendelssohn’s music to A Midsummer Night’s Dream includes one of the most astonishing examples of a great work by a young composer, with the sparkling overture written by Mendelssohn when he was only seventeen years old. Alongside the overture will be excerpts from the incidental music including the famous wedding march. In the second half we present Brahms’ Second Symphony, a work of great warmth and richness.
