On 29th and 30th May 2027 the Mahler Players will make their debuts in the Empire Theatre Eden Court and Caird Hall Dundee performing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the culmination of their acclaimed Beethoven cycle. Three powerful orchestral movements precede the choral finale with its setting of Schiller’s “Ode to Joy” to one of the most famous tunes in all music.
The first half features another composer with whom the Mahler Players have built their reputation. Wagner’s masterly Prelude from Act 1 of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg will open the concert followed by the heavenly Quintet from Act 3, featuring our world-class soloists. Also joining the Mahler Players will be the Mahler Singers, a handpicked chorus from across the north and north-east of Scotland.
These concerts are generously supported by the members of The Mahler Circle and the Brochs of Coigach.
