Barbara Scott lives in Muir of Ord. She is excited to be taking part in this full performance of Parsifal. She first sang with the Mahler Players in 2024 in the chorus of Act 3 of Parsifal, in which she also performed the (mostly silent!) role of Kundry in that Act. She was then delighted to be asked back to sing the alto solos for the 2025 performance of Mahler’s 3rd Symphony. Previously she performed many principal opera roles including: Carmen; Olga; Nicklas; Mme de la Hautiere; Fenena, Maddalena and Ulrika. Concert engagements as alto soloist have included Mendelssohn’s Elijah (Inverness Choral Society); Rossini’s Petite Messe Solonelle (Edinburgh Bach Choir, Pluscarden Abbey, Forres Chorale); Verdi Requiem (Angus Choral Society); Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (The St Andrew Orchestra); Vivaldi Gloria (The Nightingale Choir); Bach St John Passion (Stonehaven Chorus); Mozart’s Requiem (Arbroath Choral Society and Inverness Cathedral); Handel’s Messiah (Inverness Cathedral); and the UK premiere of Rain in Summer by John Glenesk Mortimer with the St Andrew Orchestra. Edinburgh Festival Fringe performances include Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder. Barbara sings a variety of opera and art song duets with her trio Sopranaria, and looks forward to upcoming recitals in Aboyne, Aberdeen, Perth and Edinburgh.
