
Following engagements at the Staatstheater Mainz, Theater Osnabrück and Theater Dortmund, Almerija Delic joined the ensemble of the Staatstheater Nürnberg for the 2018/2019 season. Guest appearances have taken the mezzo-soprano to venues including the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Aalto Theater Essen, Staatstheater Kassel, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Staatstheater Meiningen, Theater Heidelberg, Theater Kiel, Theater Erfurt, MIR Gelsenkirchen and Theater Magdeburg, as well as to the Schwetzingen Festival (in B. Lang’s Re:igen), the Eutin Festival, and the Ars & Musica Antiqua Festival, where she appeared as Ottavia (L’Incoronazione di Poppea).
She has also performed at the NOW! Festival at the Philharmonie Essen, Zeche Zollverein, the Mercatorhalle Duisburg, the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and the Ludwigsburg Festival.
Her repertoire includes roles such as Amneris (Aida), Eboli (Don Carlos), Azucena (Il trovatore), Kundry (Parsifal), Ortrud (Lohengrin), Fricka (Die Walküre), Marie (Wozzeck), Judith (Bluebeard’s Castle), Carmen (Carmen), Preziosilla (La forza del destino), Adalgisa (Norma), Dalila (Samson et Dalila), Tereza (Innocence), Countess Geschwitz (Lulu), Kate (Owen Wingrave), Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia).
Conductors with whom she has collaborated include Joana Mallwitz, Valentin Uryupin, Roland Böer, Patrik Ringborg, Michael Hofstetter, Attilio Cremonesi, Elias Grandy, Srba Dinić, Gabriel Feltz, Andreas Hotz, Daniel Inbal, Wolfgang Katschner, Catherine Rückwardt and Christian Rieger.
She has received important artistic inspiration from directors such as Adriana Altaras, Jochen Biganzoli, Peter Konwitschny, Immo Karaman, Peer Boysen, David Hermann, Georges Delnon, Matthias Fontheim, John Fulljames, Tatjana Gürbaca, Jens-Daniel Herzog, Stefan Huber, Bruno Klimek, Yona Kim, Ilaria Lanzino, Nina Russi, Tilmann Knabe, Florian Lutz, Bernd Mottl, Otto Pichler and Floris Visser.
A particular focus of her artistic work lies in contemporary music, a field to which she is also dedicated through numerous recital programmes.
She has worked extensively with composers including Bernhard Lang, Salvatore Sciarrino, Sidney Corbett, Karlheinz Essl, Gordon Kampe, Peter Kiefer, H. K. Gruber, Dirk Reith, Gerald Resch, Wolfgang Rihm and Karlheinz Stockhausen.
Almerija Delic studied voice at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, the University of Music Mainz, and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. She is a prizewinner of national and international vocal competitions and has received numerous scholarships, including from Forum Tiberius, Villa Musica, the Richard Wagner Foundation and the Walter Kaminsky Foundation.
