The Mahler Players return in May 2022 with two exhilarating Beethoven Symphonies. Sometimes unjustly overshadowed by the more outwardly dramatic Fifth, the Fourth is a gem among Beethoven’s works, showing his genial side, with the most irresistible energy, humour and lyricism. The epic Seventh Symphony, described by Wagner as “the apotheosis of the dance” is one of the most electrifyingly rhythmical pieces ever written, with thrilling outer movements framing the famous and tragic central Allegretto. We look forward to welcoming you to our celebration of this most magnificent of composers.
