On Sunday 22nd March 2026 join the Mahler Players as we continue our Beethoven cycle, this time with a double-bill of the energetic and youthful 1st and 2nd symphonies. Written shortly after the beginning of the 19th century while Beethoven was in his early 30s, both works show a debt to earlier masters like Haydn and Mozart while at the same time treading their own path. The 2nd symphony especially is one of Beethoven’s most exuberant works, belying its origins during one of the most difficult times in his life, when he learned his gradually increasing deafness was likely incurable and irreversible.
Strathpeffer Pavilion is the perfect venue in which to experience these masterpieces in the freshness of early spring. You can join us at 12 noon or 4pm. Refreshments will be available from the bar before the concert and in the interval.
These concerts are generously supported by the Corriemoillie Wind Farm Community Fund (Strathpeffer) and so we are particularly keen to encourage residents of the village of Strathpeffer, especially those who may never have been to a Mahler Players concert or to the Pavilion, to join us. We draw your attention to the discretionary concession rate of £15 and encourage you to select this ticket if you wish.
